Mumbai: New York-headquartered fine jewellery brand Verlas has officially launched its operations in India, introducing a direct-to-consumer model that combines transparent pricing, sustainable manufacturing and digital-first retail.
Founded in 2019 by Nidhi S. Dangayach and Nityani Riziya, Verlas is positioning itself as an everyday fine jewellery brand, encouraging consumers to view diamond jewellery as a part of daily personal style rather than jewellery reserved exclusively for weddings and special occasions.
The company's India expansion follows a phased rollout strategy that began with the launch of its local e-commerce platform earlier this year, followed by the official nationwide introduction of the brand's complete product portfolio.
Unlike traditional jewellery retailers, Verlas operates through a vertically integrated business model, controlling its manufacturing, sourcing and online retail operations. By eliminating intermediaries and operating without conventional retail mark-ups, the company aims to offer fine jewellery at more accessible price points.
The brand's entry-level collections begin at approximately ₹3,000, targeting younger consumers seeking contemporary jewellery for everyday wear.
One of Verlas' key differentiators is its commitment to transparent pricing, where customers can view a detailed breakdown of the value of the precious metal and diamonds rather than paying conventional making charges commonly associated with jewellery purchases.
The company also integrates technology into the online buying experience through its proprietary Every-Angle View feature, allowing customers to examine jewellery in high-resolution 360-degree views before making a purchase.
Internationally, Verlas is also recognised for its Try-at-Home concept, where customers receive replica jewellery to evaluate fit and styling before purchasing the final piece. While this service has gained popularity in overseas markets, the company has yet to announce whether it will be introduced in India.
Founded by industry professionals with deep roots in diamond manufacturing, Verlas leverages generations of expertise in diamond sourcing and jewellery production. Co-founder Nidhi S. Dangayach, a graduate of the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), New York, developed the brand around the philosophy of combining craftsmanship with transparency and responsible sourcing.
The company's production facilities are certified by the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC) and independently audited by Bureau Veritas, while its jewellery is crafted using 100% recycled gold certified by SCS Global Services.
Across its collections, Verlas uses EF colour diamonds with VS to VVS clarity, set in 9KT, 14KT and 18KT gold as well as platinum. Every piece is accompanied by IGI certification and BIS hallmarking, providing customers with internationally recognised quality assurance.
The debut collections reflect contemporary New York-inspired aesthetics through clean, minimalist designs.
The La Fleur Collection features floral-inspired bracelets, rings and necklaces crafted using recycled gold, while the Zenyth Collection introduces geometric jewellery with architectural styling, including dedicated men's jewellery pieces designed for everyday wear.
Customers also benefit from free shipping, 15-day returns, and lifetime exchange and buyback programmes, reinforcing the brand's customer-first approach.
Verlas' arrival comes at a time when India's organised fine jewellery market is witnessing increasing demand for digitally enabled shopping experiences, transparent pricing and sustainable luxury.
As younger consumers continue to embrace self-purchase jewellery and online buying, Verlas' digital-first strategy reflects a broader transformation within the jewellery industry, where technology, transparency and responsible sourcing are becoming key drivers of consumer confidence.
