Tanvi Chhuchhar represents an emerging generation of jewellery aspirants who are building their foundation not around a single skill, but around the complete journey of a piece — from the first spark of an idea to the finished jewellery that reaches the wearer.
Currently completing a Diploma in Jewellery Management at the Indian Institute of Gems & Jewellery (IIGJ), Mumbai, Tanvi’s approach goes beyond craftsmanship or design alone. Her focus lies in understanding how jewellery is conceived, manufactured and brought to market — connecting creativity, technical execution and organised business practice into one continuous process.
Her work reflects a balance between hands-on manufacturing skill and commercial awareness, making her relevant for environments where design ambition must align with production realities and business fundamentals.
“Jewellery is not only about creating a beautiful piece. It is about understanding every stage that brings that piece to life.”
— Tanvi Chhuchhar

Journey Into Jewellery
Tanvi’s interest in jewellery began during her undergraduate studies, when she started creating handcrafted pieces both as a passion and as a way to earn. What began as a creative outlet gradually grew into a serious career goal, leading her to pursue Jewellery Management at IIGJ, Mumbai.
This early beginning shaped her understanding of jewellery at a practical level. Through handmade work, she learnt how material behaves, how much patience a piece requires, and how a simple idea must pass through several stages before it becomes wearable.
Her student venture, Wired Whims, reflects this foundation. It allowed her to explore wire jewellery, handmade fabrication, customer-facing product presentation and the discipline of creating pieces consistently.
Learning Through Competition And Industry Exposure
A major turning point in Tanvi’s journey came through the IndiaSkills Competition, where she won Gold at the State Level, Silver at the Regional Level and Bronze at the National Level in the jewellery category. Her submitted profile notes that she became the only IIGJ student to achieve this distinction.
Beyond the medals, the experience strengthened her technical discipline, resilience and ability to perform under pressure. Jewellery competitions demand more than design thinking. They require accuracy, time control, workbench discipline and confidence in execution.
Tanvi was also selected for the Advanced World Skills Training Programme at Vummidi Bangaru Jewellers, Chennai, where she refined her manufacturing technique in a live production environment.
Her exposure also spans gemstones, finished jewellery, catalogue creation, Shopify management and inventory operations, giving her a wider understanding of how jewellery moves from bench to business.

Capstone Collection
Tanvi’s capstone collection is a dragonfly-inspired contemporary jewellery collection, featuring pieces such as a waist belt and hand harness, taken from concept to execution.
The collection reflects her interest in body-led jewellery forms and experimental product thinking. Rather than limiting jewellery to conventional categories, she explores how a piece can interact with movement, structure and personal styling.
This is where her profile becomes more industry-relevant: the idea does not remain only on paper. It is developed through practical making, finishing and presentation.

Work Philosophy
Tanvi’s work philosophy is rooted in curiosity, discipline and continuous practice.
She often chose to spend additional time at the workbench during her diploma, refining her manufacturing technique beyond what the classroom required. This habit also made her a natural point of reference for classmates during production sessions.
Her approach is not only design-led. It is process-led. She understands that good jewellery depends on the strength of the idea, the accuracy of the making process, the quality of finishing and the ability to present the final product clearly.
Her jewellery direction is rooted in:
- Hands-on manufacturing
- Handmade craftsmanship
- Design development
- Workbench discipline
- Gemstone and finished jewellery understanding
- Product presentation
- Catalogue and inventory awareness
