Journey Into Jewellery
Mahi’s interest in jewellery started with a childhood love for art and craft. Over time, that passion led her to choose a career in the creative world, where she could combine her artistic side with practical making.
At IIGJ Mumbai, she learned different sides of the craft, from hand sketching and 3D CAD modelling to gemmology, factory manufacturing, and product development. Her coursework at IIGJ Mumbai helped her take initial ideas from paper to finished pieces while learning how materials work in real life. Most importantly, her experience at IIGJ Mumbai gave her the confidence to experiment, refine her work, and bring her ideas to life.
Learning Through Industry Experience
After graduating from IIGJ Mumbai, Mahi started her career as a Jewellery Merchandiser at Unidesign Pvt. Ltd. Her daily role involves coming up with new concepts, testing fresh ideas, and planning collections that match what buyers are looking for in the market.
Working with different teams at Unidesign has given her a clear picture of how the jewellery industry works day-to-day. She spends time tracking consumer trends, studying buyer preferences, and turning creative drawings into products that sell well. This experience has helped her link creative design with practical business decisions.

Design Projects
For Glimpz’26, the annual graduation showcase at IIGJ Mumbai, the main theme was Heritage Elan, with Cultural Embers as the group theme. As the team leader, Mahi guided the overall creative direction and helped bring her group's ideas together.
Her individual collection, Vyavahaar, explored the quiet emotions and thoughts of a modern-day princess. Drawing inspiration from traditional Patola patterns, each piece used modern shapes to express a different feeling.
Mahi’s graduation project stood out at IIGJ Mumbai, winning four major awards:
- Design Excellence
- Retail Excellence
- Showstopper
- Aesthetic Memoir
This recognition at IIGJ Mumbai grew her passion for storytelling through design and gave her the momentum to start her professional career.

Design Philosophy
Mahi’s design work is guided by curiosity, original thinking, and storytelling. She finds inspiration in culture, architecture, and everyday experiences gathered while travelling and meeting new people. She likes looking past obvious trends to find unexpected ideas.
Her goal is to create pieces that feel fresh yet personal, giving each design a story or meaning that the wearer can connect with.
This mindset keeps her exploring new ideas, turning daily observations into wearable designs, and making fine jewellery that feels distinct and personal.
