Mumbai: Vandana M. Jagwani, owner of India’s lab-grown diamond jewellery house Vandals and Creative Director at Mahesh Notandass Fine Jewellery, has partnered with non-profit organisation Animal Care for a new street dog welfare initiative titled “Pawsitive Protectors.”
The initiative focuses on improving the lives of community dogs, commonly known as indies, through structured welfare programmes across local neighbourhoods. The campaign provides essential medical support, including anti-rabies vaccinations, routine deworming treatments and safe sterilisation procedures. These efforts aim to promote healthier community animals while supporting humane population management.
Known in the luxury jewellery industry for challenging traditional bridal jewellery aesthetics, Jagwani has built Vandals around avant-garde designs, sculptural silhouettes, custom fancy-cut lab-grown diamonds and vibrant gemstone combinations. The brand’s flagship boutique in Bandra reflects an art-inspired approach to luxury jewellery, blending high jewellery craftsmanship with contemporary visual expression.
Through Pawsitive Protectors, Jagwani extends her sustainability-focused approach beyond jewellery into animal welfare. The initiative provides essential medical care for community dogs, including vaccinations, deworming and spay-neuter procedures. Each welfare package, supported by a baseline contribution of ₹4,000 per dog, covers medical intervention, aftercare support and a reflective collar designed to improve nighttime visibility and safety.
For Jagwani, the initiative comes from a deeply personal connection rather than a conventional brand association. Sharing her motivation behind the project, she expressed that every indie dog deserves the opportunity to live a safer and healthier life. Having personally cared for 35 stray dogs at her farm for five years, she understands the importance of food, healthcare, vaccination and protection for animals without access to regular support.
Just as Vandals has challenged traditional perceptions of diamond jewellery through its focus on lab-grown diamonds and conscious luxury, Jagwani’s collaboration with Animal Care reflects a broader philosophy of responsible living. For her, sustainability is not limited to how a diamond is created; it extends to how humans interact with and protect the environment around them.
This approach resonates with a new generation of luxury consumers who increasingly look beyond aesthetics and material value, seeking brands that demonstrate purpose and social responsibility. Through Pawsitive Protectors, Jagwani joins a growing group of jewellery entrepreneurs using their influence to support meaningful causes, showing how luxury, creativity and social impact can come together.
