Tiffany & Co. Keeps Craftsmanship at Centre Court with Renewed US Open Partnership

For nearly four decades, Tiffany & Co. has turned sterling silver into symbols of sporting triumph at the US Open. Its renewed partnership with the USTA extends that legacy—uniting hand craftsmanship, courtside engraving and experiential luxury on one of tennis’s biggest global stages

New York: Tiffany & Co. and the United States Tennis Association (USTA) have extended their long-standing partnership through a new multiyear agreement, ensuring the luxury jeweller will continue crafting the official trophies for the US Open Tennis Championships. The renewal extends a relationship that began in 1987, carrying nearly four decades of Tiffany’s silversmithing heritage into the next chapter of the tournament.

Commenting on the extension, Anthony Ledru, President and Chief Executive Officer of Tiffany & Co., said the continued collaboration reflects a shared commitment to heritage and innovation, while providing the house with a prominent global platform to showcase its longstanding American silversmithing tradition. He added that Tiffany takes particular pride in handcrafting the objects that commemorate some of professional tennis’s highest achievements.

Tiffany’s work for the US Open remains a notable example of traditional bench silversmithing applied to one of the world’s biggest sporting events. The tournament’s trophies—including those for the men’s and women’s singles, doubles and mixed doubles championships—are handcrafted in sterling silver rather than produced through conventional mass-manufacturing methods.

The work is carried out at Tiffany’s dedicated hollowware workshop in Cumberland, Rhode Island. Producing a single 18-inch, nine-pound singles trophy takes approximately six months from planning to completion and requires around 66 hours of bench work by skilled artisans. Traditional techniques including metal spinning, chasing, hand engraving and multi-stage polishing are used throughout the process.

The renewed agreement also continues the practice of on-site engraving. Following the final matches at Arthur Ashe Stadium, Tiffany engravers work at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Queens to hand-engrave the champions’ names onto their keepsake trophies, allowing winners to leave the tournament with a personalised, completed piece.

Tiffany has also returned with its interactive US Open activation near Fountain Plaza at the tennis centre. The installation gives visitors a closer look at the craftsmanship behind the trophies, with traditional engraving tools from the Rhode Island workshop on display.

Fans can also view singles keepsake trophies up close, while experiential photo installations featuring Tiffany Blue tennis balls extend the brand’s presence beyond the court and into the tournament environment.

Through the renewed partnership, Tiffany & Co. continues to demonstrate how traditional silversmithing, sporting heritage and experiential branding can work together within a modern global luxury strategy.
