Chennai: GRT Jewellers has announced the return of its ‘Thanga Golu Contest 2026’, inviting customers to celebrate Navratri by sharing photographs of their traditional Golu displays on social media. Alongside the competition, the retailer is showcasing its seasonal Thanga Golu and Silver Golu collections, bringing together festive jewellery and traditional decorative pieces associated with the celebrations.
The campaign draws on the South Indian tradition of arranging Golu dolls and figurines on decorated steps during Navratri. By encouraging families to share their displays, GRT Jewellers is connecting a longstanding cultural practice with an interactive digital initiative that encourages customer participation.
To enter the contest, participants must follow GRT Jewellers on Facebook or Instagram, upload a clear photograph of their decorated Golu arrangement on a public social media account, use the hashtag #GRTThangaGolu and tag the brand. Entrants must also send a screenshot of their published post through a direct message to the retailer’s official account to complete their submission.
The competition will recognise ten winners, who will receive gift vouchers worth up to ₹7,500 each. Entries must be submitted by 18 October 2026, subject to the contest’s eligibility requirements and terms and conditions.
Alongside the social media initiative, GRT Jewellers is highlighting its festive jewellery assortment, including traditional South Indian gold designs such as antique harams, Lakshmi-inspired pendants and temple-style jhumkas. The seasonal offering also includes diamond chokers and coordinated jewellery sets suited to festive occasions.
The Silver Golu collection features silver idols, traditional Kuthuvilakku lamps and ceremonial articles intended for Navratri home displays and puja arrangements. The assortment reflects the role of precious-metal objects in South Indian festive traditions, extending beyond personal adornment to religious and decorative use.
The contest also introduces a customer-generated content element to the retailer’s festive marketing strategy. By inviting participants to share their own Golu arrangements, GRT Jewellers is encouraging cultural storytelling and digital engagement while increasing visibility for its seasonal collections.
Founded in 1964 by G. Rajendran in Chennai’s T. Nagar, GRT Jewellers has developed from a single jewellery store into an established retail brand with a presence across South India and international markets, including Singapore and Dubai.
Through the Thanga Golu Contest, GRT Jewellers is combining regional festive traditions with social media participation and seasonal merchandising. The initiative reflects how jewellery retailers are using culturally relevant campaigns to strengthen customer relationships and connect traditional celebrations with contemporary shopping experiences.
