Bengaluru: ABARAN has commemorated the 125th birth anniversary of its founder, Late Shri Burde Sadananda Kamath, with the launch of a specially crafted 4-gram gold coin at its flagship showroom on Chord Road in Bengaluru. The occasion brought together four generations of the founding family, celebrating the jewellery house’s nine-decade legacy.
The commemorative coin was unveiled in the presence of Smt. Srilakshmi Kamath, Founding Director and wife of Chairman Emeritus Shri Madhukar Sadanand Kamath; Dr. Pratap Madhukar Kamath, Managing Director; and Smt. Preethi Kamath, Director. Fourth-generation family members Sanyukta Pratap Kamath and Shiv Pratap Kamath, the founder’s great-grandchildren, also attended the celebration.
ABARAN’s origins date back to 1935, when Shri Burde Sadananda Kamath established Neo Jewellery Mart in Udupi, Karnataka. His son, Shri Madhukar Sadanand Kamath, subsequently expanded the family business under the ABARAN name, establishing its presence in Bengaluru in 1983. The brand currently operates four retail showrooms across Bengaluru, including an exclusive Rolex boutique at the Taj West End.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Pratap Madhukar Kamath expressed gratitude to customers and communities in coastal Karnataka and Bengaluru for their continued support over the past nine decades. He acknowledged the role of longstanding relationships in shaping the brand’s journey across generations.
Coinciding with the International Day of the Girl Child on 11 October, ABARAN also introduced SukanyaAbarana, a savings scheme aimed at encouraging financial planning and savings habits for young girls. The initiative seeks to promote financial awareness and support greater financial independence from an early age.
The company also announced plans for corporate social responsibility initiatives in Udupi, reinforcing its connection with the town where the business originated. In addition, ABARAN is preparing to expand its retail presence with a new flagship showroom planned for Udupi in the coming months.
The anniversary celebration brings together ABARAN’s family heritage, retail development and community initiatives as the jewellery house looks to build on its legacy while strengthening its presence in Karnataka.
