The Art in Gold: Jewellery in Hellenistic Times exhibition has opened at the Shaanxi History Museum in Xi’an, China. Featuring 250 pieces or sets from Greek museums and archaeological institutions, the showcase highlights ancient Greek gold jewellery, craftsmanship and the cultural value of adornment during the Hellenistic period
The showcase brings ancient Greek jewellery craftsmanship to Chinese audiences through 250 pieces or sets of exhibits from 25 Greek museums and archaeological institutions.
The exhibition focuses on jewellery from the Hellenistic period, which is known for its detailed goldwork, artistic designs and use of precious materials. The pieces reflect how jewellery was used not only for personal adornment, but also as a symbol of status, beauty, belief and cultural identity.
