World Gold Council Launches Gold Experience Centre in Mumbai to Celebrate Diwali

World Gold Council’s Gold Experience Centre at Phoenix Palladium, Mumbai, brings together investment awareness, cultural storytelling and interactive experiences to engage the next generation of gold consumers.

Mumbai: The World Gold Council (WGC) has introduced an immersive Gold Experience Centre at Phoenix Palladium in Lower Parel, Mumbai, offering visitors an interactive platform to explore gold’s investment potential, cultural significance and enduring relevance in India. The initiative forms part of the mall’s Diwali Gold District and is designed to connect with a younger generation of consumers through technology, storytelling and interactive activities.

The experience recently drew a visit from Rajesh Rokde, Chairman of the All India Gem & Jewellery Domestic Council (GJC), who shared highlights of the initiative on social media. During his visit, he was joined by key World Gold Council representatives, including Sachin Jain, Regional CEO, India; Ajit Mauskar; and Ankesh Jain, along with Avinash Gupta, Vice Chairman of GJC.

The centre presents gold beyond its conventional association with jewellery and adornment, encouraging visitors to understand its historical role as a store of value and an investment asset. Through digital installations and engaging displays, the initiative demonstrates how gold has evolved in importance across generations while remaining closely connected to India's financial and cultural landscape.

One of the key attractions is Gold Rush, an interactive touchscreen experience that illustrates gold's historical value and allows visitors to compare its performance with other asset classes. In his social media post, Rokde highlighted the long-term wealth creation potential of gold through a comparison with fixed deposits, drawing attention to the metal's appreciation over the years. The comparison reinforces the importance of examining long-term investment performance, although actual returns depend on the investment period, interest rates and the methodology used.

Beyond investment awareness, the centre features several interactive attractions designed to make gold education more engaging. The Wedding Edit allows visitors to explore regional bridal and groom jewellery traditions through a digital experience, while Gold Vault introduces an interactive quiz format centred on gold-related knowledge. Another attraction, Gold Origins, presents the journey and significance of gold through visual storytelling, while Scratch & Win combines educational content with visitor participation.

Speaking about the initiative at its launch, Sachin Jain emphasised gold's unique place in India's cultural identity and the importance of introducing younger consumers to the precious metal through contemporary experiences. The World Gold Council aims to encourage curiosity and broaden consumer engagement by moving beyond traditional product-focused communication.

The initiative also carries wider implications for India's jewellery retail industry. As consumer preferences evolve, particularly among younger buyers, retailers are increasingly exploring experience-led formats that combine education, entertainment and digital interaction. Such approaches can help jewellery businesses communicate the value, craftsmanship and cultural significance of their products while building stronger relationships with customers.

For the jewellery trade, the Gold Experience Centre offers a practical example of how interactive technology can complement conventional showroom environments. Digital storytelling, investment-awareness tools and participatory experiences can provide fresh opportunities for jewellers to engage consumers beyond price and product comparisons.

The World Gold Council's immersive installation is scheduled to remain open until 9th November 2026. By bringing together gold's financial, cultural and emotional significance, the initiative seeks to strengthen consumer understanding of the precious metal and introduce new ways for the industry to communicate its relevance to future generations.
