Mumbai: Valora Advisors has launched a specialised advisory platform for India’s gems and jewellery industry, aimed at helping manufacturers and retailers strengthen their business structures and prepare for potential Initial Public Offering (IPO) and other capital-market opportunities.
The initiative comes as several jewellery businesses expand their manufacturing capacities, retail networks, brands and geographical presence. According to Valora Advisors, this growth is also increasing the need for stronger financial systems, governance frameworks, regulatory compliance and professional management practices.
The advisory platform has been structured around the philosophy “Assess. Prepare. Achieve.”, with the emphasis placed on improving a business’s institutional readiness before considering a capital-market transaction.
The Valora Advisors team includes Govind Verma, Founder & Chief Mentor; Sanjay Shah, Advisor; Mohan Lalwani, Legal Advisor; Kalpesh Dave, Advisor; and Chintan Shah, Chief Analytics.
Commenting on the initiative, Govind Verma said India’s gems and jewellery sector has created substantial businesses through entrepreneurship, expertise and generations of industry experience. As these enterprises enter their next phase of growth, he said professional systems, governance and strategic planning are becoming increasingly important.
The ASSESS stage of the programme evaluates a company’s financial, structural, operational, governance, compliance and strategic position, identifying areas that may require improvement.
The PREPARE phase focuses on strengthening corporate structures, financial processes, governance practices, compliance systems and management capabilities. The subsequent ACHIEVE stage is designed to support a company’s progression towards a potential IPO, working in coordination with SEBI-registered intermediaries and other professional advisers, subject to applicable regulatory requirements, eligibility criteria and market conditions.
Sanjay Shah of the Jewel Maker Welfare Association noted that the jewellery sector has a strong base of entrepreneurial and family-run businesses that contribute significantly to manufacturing, employment and trade. As such businesses scale, he said professional financial systems, documentation and governance can become important enablers of sustainable expansion.
Valora Advisors said the initiative is intended to begin well before the actual IPO transaction stage, giving promoters sufficient time to address organisational gaps and develop scalable business capabilities.
The platform will focus particularly on capital, strategy and growth, while supporting jewellery businesses through business assessment, professionalisation, institutionalisation and potential capital-market readiness.
The advisory firm emphasised that the objective is not simply to encourage companies to pursue an IPO. Instead, the broader aim is to help businesses develop stronger governance, financial discipline, management systems and scalability, enabling promoters to make informed decisions on long-term growth, institutional capital and future market opportunities.
