Margao: Goa’s legacy house, Ulhas Jewellers, is celebrating its 99th anniversary by giving back to its patrons through a special educational session titled “Karats & Carats” on Saturday, 22 August 2026. The event will take place at 12:00 PM at Casa Dos Costas, near Damodar Sal, Margao, alongside the brand’s ongoing Diamond & Polki Exhibition & Sale.
The family-owned jeweller is using its 99th year to host a hands-on learning experience for local buyers. Running alongside the 4th edition of the Diamond & Polki Exhibition & Sale, the three-day premium showcase will be held from 22 to 24 August 2026. The exhibition serves as a celebration of luxury craftsmanship, highlighting a core collection of fine diamond ornaments and timeless heritage Polki jewellery set with natural, uncut stones in gold. Expanding its offerings for this milestone edition, the brand is also debuting a dedicated Temple Jewellery line for the first time, alongside specialised collections for men and a curated range of silver artefacts.
The “Karats & Carats” workshop will be led by retail expert Navin Sadaranngani, Founder and CEO of the coaching firm NYUZ. With over three decades of luxury trade experience, Sadaranngani will guide attendees through the fundamentals of smart jewellery buying. The session will cover gold purity standards, decode the 4Cs of diamond grading, and address common questions surrounding natural versus lab-grown diamonds. Guests will also gain a deeper appreciation of traditional Polki craftsmanship and receive personal styling advice on selecting pieces that suit their preferences, features and daily wear.
This anniversary initiative reflects a deeper philosophy championed by the leadership team, including Managing Director Vikram Verlekar and Director Pritam Verlekar. The management has collaborated with Sadaranngani for internal training programmes for its sales team. The directors view the 99th anniversary as an opportunity to reinforce trust, believing that strong customer relationships are built on open communication and genuine warmth rather than simple sales interactions.
Founded in 1927 as Joalharia Moderna during the Portuguese era, the house pioneered direct diamond imports to the region and later became the first jeweller in Goa to secure ISO quality certification. As Ulhas Jewellers approaches a full century of service, this anniversary workshop highlights the brand’s long-standing commitment to customer empowerment, honest craftsmanship and community connection.
The brand aims to empower buyers with genuine industry knowledge, simplify complex quality standards and create a culture of transparency in fine jewellery purchasing. Its vision is to evolve beyond being a traditional retail house into a trusted, relationship-led institution — one that honours nearly a century of Goan heritage while setting modern standards for customer education, ethical craftsmanship and lasting community trust as it moves towards its centenary.
