Actress Mrunal Thakur inaugurated the 28th edition of the Jewels of India Exhibition at Bengaluru’s Palace Grounds, launching a four-day showcase of over 1,00,000 designs from 100-plus top jewellers. The annual event features everything from heavy bridal sets and diamonds to traditional temple gold ahead of the peak festive season

Bengaluru: The 28th edition of the Jewels of India Exhibition commenced in Bengaluru, with actor Mrunal Thakur inaugurating the four-day showcase. Bringing together over 100 leading jewellers from across India and more than one lakh jewellery designs, the exhibition presents an extensive selection of traditional craftsmanship, contemporary creations and bridal collections, offering a comprehensive showcase of India's diverse jewellery heritage ahead of the wedding season.

Running until 1 November, the exhibition presents an extensive assortment of gold, diamond, silver and gemstone jewellery, offering visitors access to collections from established jewellery houses and participating retailers within a single venue. The showcase highlights India's diverse jewellery-making traditions while reflecting changing consumer preferences across different product categories and price segments.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by invited guests and VIP pass holders, with the exhibition opening to the general public on 30 October. Vikram Mehta, Organiser of Jewels of India, highlighted the event's regional appeal, noting interest from jewellery buyers travelling from Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. The participation reflects Bengaluru's position as an important jewellery retail market and the exhibition's established presence in South India.

A key development at this year's edition is the introduction of the Jewels of India Gold+ Savings Plan, a digital initiative aimed at encouraging systematic gold purchases. The programme allows customers to begin saving with contributions starting at ₹100 per day through a mobile platform, with the accumulated amount converted into gold at prevailing rates.

Eligible monthly savings plans also offer an additional gold benefit upon completion, subject to the programme's applicable terms and conditions. The initiative extends the exhibition's consumer engagement beyond its annual retail event by introducing a structured savings option for planned jewellery purchases.

The Gold+ Savings Plan reflects the increasing integration of digital services into jewellery retail, particularly as consumers seek flexible ways to plan purchases amid changing gold prices. By combining systematic savings with access to participating jewellers, the programme aims to encourage long-term customer engagement and more structured jewellery-buying decisions.

Traditional Indian jewellery remains a prominent feature of the exhibition, with collections spanning South Indian temple jewellery, antique Nakshi designs, Guttapusalu necklaces, traditional chokers and elaborate bridal sets. These designs highlight the continued importance of regional craftsmanship in wedding and occasion-led jewellery purchases.

The diamond and gemstone jewellery segment features contemporary necklaces, statement rings, earrings and gemstone-studded creations incorporating emeralds, rubies and sapphires. Polki, Kundan and Meenakari jewellery also form part of the exhibition's assortment, reflecting the diversity of traditional techniques represented by participating jewellers.

Alongside heavier bridal and ceremonial pieces, exhibitors are presenting lightweight gold jewellery, minimalist designs and sterling silver collections aimed at younger consumers and everyday wear. The combination of traditional and contemporary offerings reflects the evolving jewellery retail market, where customers increasingly seek designs that balance craftsmanship, personal style and wearability.

The 2026 edition also marks 28 years of Jewels of India's presence in Bengaluru's jewellery exhibition landscape. Established in 1999 through the efforts of Sandeep Bekal, Hemanth and Vikram, the exhibition was conceived as a platform connecting jewellery retailers directly with consumers through a large-format showcase.

The inaugural edition was held at Bengaluru's Ashoka Hotel and inaugurated by the late Parvathamma Rajkumar. Following its initial success, the exhibition expanded to larger venues, including Kanteerava Indoor Stadium, before establishing Palace Grounds as its principal location.

Over the years, Jewels of India has developed into a recognised retail jewellery exhibition, providing participating businesses with opportunities to present their collections to a broad consumer audience. Its format allows retailers to showcase regional design specialities, introduce new collections and engage directly with prospective buyers.

The 28th edition builds on this established format with an expanded jewellery assortment and the introduction of digital gold savings. Together, these developments reflect the growing emphasis on product diversity, customer engagement and technology-enabled purchasing within India's organised jewellery retail sector.

The exhibition remained open to the public with free entry from 30 October to 1 November 2026, offering visitors an opportunity to explore collections from more than 100 participating jewellers at Tripura Vasini, Palace Grounds, Bengaluru.
