New Delhi: MMTC-PAMP has presented the first Virasat Gold Coin to Commonwealth Games triple gold medallist Mirabai Chanu, recognising her contribution to Indian weightlifting and her achievements on the global sporting stage.
The commemorative coin was presented by Samit Guha, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of MMTC-PAMP, as part of the company’s initiative marking India’s 80th year of Independence. Through the presentation, the precious metals company sought to celebrate individuals whose achievements have contributed to India’s international identity and national pride.
Mirabai Chanu has established herself as one of India’s most accomplished weightlifters. Her consistent performances at major international competitions have made her a prominent figure in Indian sport and a symbol of determination, discipline and excellence.
According to MMTC-PAMP, the 10-gram Virasat Gold Coin has been crafted in 24K, 999.9+ purity gold. The coin has been positioned as a tribute to India’s journey as a nation and to personalities whose accomplishments continue to inspire future generations.
The presentation also reflects MMTC-PAMP’s growing focus on developing precious-metal products that combine investment value with cultural, national and commemorative significance. By associating the inaugural Virasat Gold Coin with Mirabai Chanu, the company has linked the product with a story of sporting achievement and Indian excellence.
MMTC-PAMP is a prominent precious metals refinery and minting company in India. It operates as a joint venture between MMTC Limited, an Indian public-sector enterprise, and PAMP SA of Switzerland, a globally recognised precious metals refiner.
The company offers a portfolio of gold and silver products, including minted coins, bars and investment-grade precious-metal offerings. MMTC-PAMP is known for its emphasis on purity, precision, responsible sourcing and Swiss-standard refining and minting practices.
Through products such as the Virasat Gold Coin, MMTC-PAMP continues to expand its presence beyond conventional bullion by developing collections linked to Indian heritage, national milestones and prominent cultural narratives.
The presentation to Mirabai Chanu brings together two distinct symbols of excellence—India’s sporting legacy and the enduring value of gold—while positioning the Virasat Gold Coin as both a commemorative keepsake and a celebration of national achievement.
