Ajay Devgn received a traditional Assamese welcome with a Gamosa and Jaapi before attending the two inauguration ceremonies. His first appearance was at Kalyan Jewellers’ expanded showroom on GS Road, Lachit Nagar, near Hanuman Mandir, where he inaugurated the upgraded space at approximately 5:00 PM. He then proceeded to the second refreshed showroom on A.T. Road, Bharalumukh, near Jajodia Engineering, where the inauguration was completed at around 5:45 PM.
The ceremonies were attended by representatives of Kalyan Jewellers India, local franchise leaders from the SGBL Group, and event coordinators from Anvibi Events & Celebrations.
The expansion of the two Guwahati stores reflects Kalyan Jewellers’ continued focus on strengthening its retail footprint across Eastern and Northeastern India. Located on two of the city’s prominent commercial corridors, the larger-format showrooms are designed to offer customers a broader portfolio of jewellery across bridal, festive, traditional and everyday-wear categories.
The upgraded stores now house an extensive selection from Kalyan Jewellers’ signature collections. These include Muhurat for traditional bridal jewellery, Mudhra for antique-finish gold designs and Nimah for temple-inspired jewellery. Customers can also explore uncut diamond creations under Anokhi, Meenakari-led designs from Tyohaar and Padma, contemporary diamond jewellery from Glo and Ziah, and lightweight everyday styles from Candere.
By consolidating multiple jewellery categories within larger, more accessible retail spaces, Kalyan Jewellers is positioning the Guwahati showrooms as comprehensive destinations for customers seeking everything from daily-wear pieces to elaborate bridal and occasion jewellery.
The move also reinforces the company’s broader strategy of deepening its presence beyond its traditional stronghold in South India. Through a combination of larger-format stores, franchise partnerships and high-visibility market launches, Kalyan Jewellers continues to build a more extensive national retail network.
The Guwahati expansion underlines the growing importance of Northeast India within organised jewellery retail, with leading national brands increasingly investing in larger stores, broader assortments and stronger local engagement to capture evolving consumer demand.
