Mumbai: The All India Gem and Jewellery Domestic Council (GJC) and the India International Bullion Exchange (IIBX) have signed a strategic agreement aimed at transforming the way precious metals are accessed and traded by jewellers across India.
Through this partnership, India’s domestic jewellery industry body and the country’s first international bullion exchange at GIFT City, Gujarat, will work together to create a more structured and transparent pathway for jewellers to access gold and silver.
The collaboration will focus on increasing awareness among domestic jewellers about the functioning and benefits of the international bullion exchange. Both organisations will develop solutions, financial products and buying mechanisms designed around the requirements of jewellery businesses across different regions.
The key objective of the partnership is to enable wider participation of jewellers in the organised bullion ecosystem, providing businesses across metros, smaller cities and towns with improved access to global bullion markets.
The agreement was formally signed by Shri Ashok Gautam, Chief Executive Officer, India International Bullion Exchange, and Shri Rajesh Rokde, Chairman, All India Gem and Jewellery Domestic Council.
Traditionally, many jewellers have relied on multiple layers of intermediaries for sourcing gold and silver, which can impact pricing efficiency, transparency and supply chain management. Through IIBX, jewellers will have access to a more direct and regulated bullion trading ecosystem supported by digital processes and secured vault infrastructure.
The partnership aims to simplify bullion procurement by enabling access to quality-assured precious metals through a transparent trading framework, reducing operational complexities and strengthening reliability across the supply chain.
Speaking about the collaboration, Shri Ashok Gautam highlighted the importance of creating accessible and efficient trading mechanisms that extend beyond major cities and benefit jewellers across India.
Shri Rajesh Rokde emphasised that the council will focus on educating and supporting domestic jewellers in adopting the GIFT City bullion ecosystem. Through awareness initiatives, training programmes and workshops, the partnership aims to help family-owned jewellery businesses and smaller retailers understand and participate in this evolving bullion marketplace.
The collaboration marks an important step towards integrating India’s domestic jewellery trade with global bullion infrastructure, supporting greater transparency, efficiency and accessibility within the precious metals ecosystem.
