Challani Jewellery Mart Names Filmmaker Jason Sanjay as Brand Ambassador

Challani Jewellery Mart has named filmmaker Jason Sanjay as its official brand ambassador in a strategic move to connect with Gen Z and millennial consumers across South India. Announced at a Chennai launch event, the partnership blends the brand’s traditional craftsmanship with fresh, contemporary appeal across digital and multi-platform campaigns

Chennai: Challani Jewellery Mart has appointed filmmaker Jason Sanjay as its new brand ambassador, strengthening its efforts to connect with younger jewellery consumers across South India. The announcement was made by Chairman Jayantilal Challani at an event held at Sathyam Cinemas in Royapettah, Chennai, marking a new phase in the heritage retailer’s brand communication strategy.

The association brings together Challani Jewellery Mart’s established retail legacy and Jason Sanjay’s emerging identity in Tamil cinema. Through the partnership, the retailer aims to engage a younger audience while maintaining its longstanding emphasis on traditional craftsmanship, jewellery quality and customer trust.

Speaking about his association with the brand, Jason Sanjay highlighted the importance of building an individual identity rather than relying solely on an inherited legacy. He drew a parallel between his own professional journey and Challani Jewellery Mart’s evolution, noting that the brand has continued to establish its distinct identity while building on its heritage.

According to the company, the brand ambassador agreement was finalised within 24 hours of the initial discussions, following approximately six months of creative planning for the campaign.

Meena Chhabria, Chief Marketing Officer of Challani Jewellery Mart, highlighted the importance of authenticity and relevance in contemporary brand endorsements. She noted that younger consumers, particularly Gen Z, increasingly connect with personalities who reflect their own generation, making Jason Sanjay a suitable choice to communicate the brand’s evolving identity.

The appointment forms part of Challani Jewellery Mart’s wider efforts to strengthen its positioning among contemporary jewellery buyers while continuing to serve customers who value traditional designs and established craftsmanship.

Operating under the Jayantilal Challani Group of Companies, the family-owned business traces its roots to bullion trading before expanding into organised jewellery retail. The company opened its flagship consumer showroom in T. Nagar, Chennai, in 2013, establishing a dedicated retail presence for its gold, diamond and traditional jewellery collections.

Led by Jayantilal Challani alongside his sons Rishub, Goutham and Sripal Challani, the group has subsequently expanded its retail operations into Madurai and Puducherry. In 2020, it also introduced Challani House of Silver, focusing on silver articles, decorative pieces and religious idols.

The retailer’s jewellery portfolio spans traditional Jadau Polki designs, Nakshi temple jewellery, antique-inspired ornaments, lightweight Italian gold jewellery and certified diamond collections. The assortment caters to bridal purchases, festive occasions and everyday wear, combining established Indian jewellery-making techniques with contemporary styling.

The upcoming campaign featuring Jason Sanjay will be promoted across digital platforms, social media and other advertising channels, highlighting the brand’s collections and its approach to connecting traditional jewellery craftsmanship with changing consumer preferences.

Through the association, Challani Jewellery Mart is seeking to strengthen its visibility among younger consumers while reinforcing its presence in South India’s competitive jewellery retail market.
