CaratLane Leverages Customer Storytelling with #MyCaratLaneStory

Chennai: CaratLane has launched a nationwide storytelling initiative, #MyCaratLaneStory, aimed at transforming the way consumers perceive and purchase everyday fine jewellery by placing real personal milestones at the centre of its brand narrative.

The initiative invites customers to share genuine, unscripted memories connected to their jewellery purchases. Moving away from traditional celebrity-led endorsements, the campaign focuses on real customer experiences and emotional moments. These include young professionals purchasing gold or diamond jewellery with their first salary, couples choosing affordable promise rings, individuals celebrating personal achievements, and parents marking milestones such as a child’s graduation or birthday.

The initiative aligns with CaratLane’s broader vision of positioning fine jewellery as a part of everyday lifestyle rather than an asset reserved only for special occasions or stored away for years.

Founded in Chennai in 2008 by Mithun Sacheti and Srinivasa Gopalan, CaratLane began as an online diamond jewellery platform aimed at reducing traditional retail costs and making diamond jewellery more accessible. In 2012, the company adopted an omnichannel approach by opening its first physical experience centre in New Delhi, combining digital convenience with an in-store shopping experience.

The brand witnessed significant growth following Titan Company Limited’s acquisition of a majority stake in 2016. Titan later completed the acquisition of the remaining founder shares in August 2023 for ₹4,621 crore, placing CaratLane’s valuation at approximately US$2 billion. Today, CaratLane operates as a wholly owned subsidiary of Titan Company Limited, with more than 370 stores across India and an expanding international presence, including locations in New Jersey and Texas.

Supporting its focus on lightweight and everyday fine jewellery, CaratLane continues to introduce collections designed for modern consumers. These include its 9-karat gold range targeted at first-time diamond buyers, daily-wear collections such as Kaashika and Leher featuring minimal and fluid designs, and contemporary Polki collections that reinterpret traditional uncut diamonds in lighter formats.

The brand has also explored Indian cultural inspirations through its collections, incorporating motifs such as marigolds, architectural elements and peepal leaves into designs showcased through international fashion and jewellery platforms.

While #MyCaratLaneStory is primarily positioned as a community-driven initiative, it also supports the brand’s broader consumer engagement strategy through digital campaigns, creator collaborations and promotional activities. Customers often discover creator-led offers, store promotions and app-based benefits associated with the campaign across social media platforms.

Through this initiative, CaratLane continues to strengthen its positioning around accessible fine jewellery — where jewellery is not only connected to major life events but also becomes a part of everyday celebrations, personal achievements and individual stories.
