Udupi: Abaran Timeless Jewellery partnered with the Udupi Sarvajanika Sri Ganeshotsav Samithi (R) for the 60th Diamond Jubilee Vajra Mahotsav Ganeshotsava at Kadiyali, Udupi, extending its community engagement around the cultural and artistic traditions of coastal Karnataka.
The celebrations centred on the Sankashtahara Ganapati idol, presented within an elaborate royal court-inspired setting, and culminated in a grand Shobhayatre, bringing together devotees from across the region.
Abaran positioned its association with the festival as part of its broader Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives, with an emphasis on preserving regional traditions, temple arts and indigenous craftsmanship.
Dr Pratap Madhukar Kamath, Managing Director, and Srilakshmi Kamath, Founder Director, Abaran Timeless Jewellery, highlighted the importance of supporting cultural traditions that have remained closely connected with the communities the brand serves.
For the jewellery house, the association also carries a connection to craftsmanship. The traditional practice of Bappa’s Alankara, where the deity is adorned for ceremonial worship, draws on a wider heritage of ornamentation, metalworking and temple aesthetics that has influenced jewellery craftsmanship across generations.
Abaran’s relationship with Udupi traces back to 1935, when Sri Sadananda Kamath established Neo Jewellery Mart in the region. Over the decades, the business evolved into Abaran Timeless Jewellery, developing its identity across natural diamonds, antique gold, Nakshi work and temple-inspired jewellery.
The 60th Vajra Mahotsav therefore brought together two longstanding regional legacies: the cultural significance of the Kadiyali Ganeshotsava and Abaran’s own roots in Udupi.
The jeweller continues to draw on these traditions across its festive and heritage-led offerings, including antique gold harams, Kasu Malas, Kantarabaran temple jewellery and Rajatabaran sterling silver pooja articles.
Through its association with the landmark Ganeshotsava, Abaran reinforced its connection with coastal Karnataka while placing craftsmanship, cultural preservation and community participation at the centre of its outreach.
