Chennai: Vummidi Bangaru Jewellers (VBJ) has opened its newly renovated Vummidi Silverware showroom on Anna Salai, Chennai. Located adjacent to the brand’s existing store, the expanded 8,000-square-foot space brings together an extensive collection of silver jewellery and silverware in a more refined and comfortable retail setting.
The new showroom reflects VBJ’s long-standing association with silver craftsmanship, which dates back to the company’s origins in 1900. Conceived as a tribute to the brand’s early years, the space combines traditional craftsmanship with a contemporary shopping experience, while reinforcing VBJ’s focus on quality, service and customer trust.
Vummidi Silverware offers a wide selection of products designed to meet varied customer requirements. The collection includes every day and occasion-wear silver jewellery, handcrafted pooja articles, festive essentials, premium dinner sets, home décor pieces, corporate gifts and customised creations. By bringing these categories together under one roof, the showroom is positioned as a comprehensive destination for silver purchases across age groups and occasions.
Speaking at the launch, Jithendra Vummidi, Managing Partner, VBJ, said the showroom celebrates the company’s roots in silver. He noted that while VBJ has grown significantly over the decades, it has continued to preserve its traditional silver craftsmanship. The larger space allows the brand to display a broader collection in an environment that reflects its reputation for quality and heritage.
Amarendran Vummidi, Managing Partner, VBJ, highlighted the importance of creating a more welcoming and convenient customer experience. He said the showroom features increased inventory, improved product presentation and a spacious layout, enabling customers to explore the brand’s complete silver range in one location.
Currently managed by the fifth generation of the Vummidi family, VBJ has been a recognised name in Chennai’s jewellery industry for more than 125 years. The family is also associated with the creation of the historic gold Sengol, linked to India’s independence in 1947 and later installed near the Speaker’s chair in the new Parliament building.
Following the opening of the Anna Salai showroom, VBJ is preparing for further expansion. The company plans to open its largest jewellery showroom to date on 100 Feet Road in Coimbatore, marking an important step in its growth beyond Chennai.
